London Congestion Charge

If you drive in London’s Congestion Charging Zone between 07.00 and 18.00 Monday to Friday, you must pay the London Congestion Charge. However, if you have a car powered by fuel other than solely petrol or diesel, you can apply for a 100% discount.

The London Congestion Charge is currently £8 if you pay the charge by midnight on the day of travel. If you pay by midnight the following charging day, the charge is £10. If you don't pay the Congestion Charge, a Penalty Charge Notice for £120.00 is sent to the Registered Keeper of the vehicle. As with parking penalties, this is reduced to £60.00 if it's paid within 14 days.

For vehicles using alternative types of fuel (other than petrol or diesel), the charge is zero. The alternative types of ‘fuels’ are:

Electric (ELE), Petrol Electric Hybrid or Diesel Electric Hybrid (HYB), Hydrogen (HYD), Fuel cell (FC), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Natural Gas (NG).
